Mystic man found shot dead in home

Authorities in southeast Iowa are investigating a fatal shooting involving a husband and wife. The Appanoose County Sheriff’s office got a 9-1-1 call on Monday night from Elizabeth Deatsch in Mystic. She said her husband had been shot.

Deputies were dispatched and found 52-year-old Elmer Deatsch Junior dead inside the house from what appeared to be gunshot wounds. An autopsy is scheduled for later today.
