Des Moines man charged in stabbing

May 1, 2008 By admin

A man is in custody for stabbing a woman in a Des Moines park. Police say 27-year-old Ty Andrew Ryder of Des Moines is charged with attempted murder. He’s accused of slashing the throat of 18-year-old Amanda McPhee Tuesday afternoon in Des Moines’ Water Works Park.

McPhee is not able to speak and was last reported in serious condition. She was able to communicate with detectives by writing on a notepad. Officers tracked down Ryder after releasing surveillance photos of a man that was with McPhee on Tuesday at the downtown Des Moines Library. McPhee had gone there to fill out a job application.
