Wartburg wins 12th straight baseball title

May 1, 2008 By admin

It’s an even dozen for the Wartburg baseball program. The Knights pounded out 15 hits, including three homers, in a 14-4 win over the University of Dubuque as they wrapped up a 12th consecutive Iowa Conference title. Coach Joel Holst says it is a great accomplishment with the tough start they had with the injuries.

Holst says the players hung in and overcame adversity. Holst says it is "crazy" to think a team can win 12 straight league titles. Holst says they’ve won it so many different ways that it’s a tribute to the team and the type of kids they have in the program.

Holst it was good to see the offensive explosion, as that’s what they’ve been trying to get going.
