The Quad City River Bandits will be able to return home when their next Midwest League homestand begins Thursday night against the Kane County Cougars. The team was forced to move out of Modern Woodman Park for three games last week after floodwater from the Mississippi River cut off access to the stadium.
Club general manager Kirk Goodman says the city has been working to clean everything up and it should all be back to normal soo. Goodman says while access to the stadium was cut off, the facility and the playing field remained dry. He says this is the first test of the stadium since their renovation.
Goodman says before the improvements, all the water would have gone right onto the field and into the dugout. He says things were so dry, that they actually are having a high school game on the field today.
Goodman says as the water recedes the cleanup is continuing, as he says lot has already gone on as the waters go down. He says they even helped the city get rid of some garbage that washed up.
