The third of five finalists to become the new athletic director at the University of Northern Iowa has completed his interview. Terry Wanless is currently the AD at Sacramento State and prior to that was at North Dakota for ten years.

Wanless says growing up in South Dakota, this is a chance to come back from the West Coast to the Midwest. He says the UNI’s program and athletic tradition is an exciting opportunity.

Wanless says he likes the tight knit atmosphere surrounding the UNI job. He says his time at the University of North Dakota showed the importance of being part of such a community, and he wants to he a part of it and help it grow.

Wanless says his goal would be to find the funding necessary to grow the program to give the coaches and student athletes the chance to be successful and go higher than they have in 5he past.

Wanless feels he is the right fit for the job as he says he feels very comfortable with what he has seen of the campus and the program.

UNI is looking to replace Rick Hartzell who resigned in January.
