Elk Horn man dies in accident

May 20, 2008 By admin

One person was killed, another injured during a collision Monday afternoon in Shelby County. The Iowa State Patrol says 55-year-old Ross Boeck, of Elk Horn, died when the 2002 Harley Davidson motorcyle he was driving collided with a 2003 GMC Yukon at the intersection of Highway 59 and Cyclone Avenue in Harlan.

The driver of the SUV, 34-year-old Shannon Bartley, of Harlan, suffered minor injuries and was taken to the hospital by private transport. Officials say Boeck was traveling north on Highway 59 at around 3:40-p.m., when the SUV pulled-out in front of him to turn south from Cyclone Avenue onto the highway. When the cycle hit the SUV, Boeck was thrown-off. He landed on the highway and was taken to the hospital where he died from his injuries.
