St. Ambrose wins Commissioner’s Cup

St. Ambrose University has won the Commissioner’s Cup for this past season. The award is given to the school which claims the all sports title in the Midwest Collegiate Conference. St. Ambrose Athletic Director Ray Shovlain says of their 18 sports 15 competed for a conference championship, and they won says 10 of the 15 sports offered won league titles, three others came in second.

He says it’s a reflection of the student athletes and the coaches. Shovlain says they are proud of the total program that is offered by the school. Shovlain says sometimes schools only emphasize being competitive at one or two sports, but they want to be competitive in every team they field. Grandview, William Penn, Iowa Wesleyan and Ckarke finished two through fifth in the all sports race.
