Butler County officials warn of possible storm scam

June 2, 2008 By admin

Butler County officials are warning of a possible scam involved with the tornado clean-up efforts in Parkersburg and New Hartford. The county’s Incident Command says authorities have received reports of an individual approaching a home owner and offering their services. After a brief survey, they provide an estimate and ask for a ten-percent down payment.

Authorities recommend that home-owners do not provide up-front payments for services. If you believe you’ve been approached by a scam artist, authorities ask that you provide them with a description of the individual as well as any vehicle description and license plate information and report it to them at this toll-free number, 888-705-7526.
