June 2, 2008 By admin

A 60-year-old Fort Dodge man died Friday night as the result of injuries received during the races at the Mineral City Speedway in Fort Dodge. Authorities identified the victim as Larry James Doocy. The Webster County Sheriff’s Office reported that Doocy was acting as a crew member during the races when he was struck by a wheel that had broken off a race car making a lap around the race track.

The wheel crossed the track entering the pit area an an apparent high rate of speed when it then went through a group of trailers striking Doocy. Doocy was then transported to Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge where he died on arrival.
