Another Parkersburg tornado victim dies

June 4, 2008 By admin

An eighth person has died as the result of injuries sustained when the mile-wide tornado hit northeast Iowa over Memorial Day weekend. The Redman-Schwartz Funeral home in Parkersburg is saying that 85-year-old Bertha Eckhoff of Parkersburg died late Tuesday at Allen Hospital in Waterloo.

The storm now has claimed the lives of six Parkersburg and two New Hartford residents and was the state’s strongest tornado in 32 years, demolishing at least 220 homes and 22 businesses.
