Waterloo toddler in critical condition after being found in pool

June 5, 2008 By admin

Police have identified the boy who nearly drowned in a swimming pool at a Waterloo in-home day care. Officials say one-year-old Antwoine Turner was unresponsive when rescue crews were called to the home Wednesday afternoon. When authorities arrived, people at the home were trying to revive the boy.

Turner was taken to a nearby hospital, then transferred to University Hospitals in Iowa City. Police say he’s currently listed in critical condition. Authorities are investigating the near-drowning. Police say Turner was one of seven children who were at the day care center at the time. Investigators believe he wandered away from the group while the kids were playing outside.
