Final preparations are underway at Drake Stadium which will host the NCAA Track and Field Championships next week. Drake Relays director Brian Brown is serving as co-chair of the meet and says there is a lot of activity in and around the stadium.
Brown says they just installed the warmup track in the parking lot outside the track so it is ready. They also received many trucks of equipment which they are assembling. Brown says it is all about taking care of details right now. He says the expectations are high from the NCAA and for themselves.
One addition fans will see is a new timing system that has been installed on the south wall. They had hoped to have the clock in earlier, but now they’re getting it in so the athletes can see their times as they head down the stretch.Brown says teams will begin arriving this weekend.
