North Liberty teen charged with stabbing dad

A North Liberty teenager has been charged with attempted murder for allegedly stabbing his father. The incident happened about three A.M. today as police were called to a North Liberty home on the report of a stabbing. According to statements from the subjects and a witness, a 48-year-old man and his 15-year-old son were involved in an altercation, and the father was stabbed three times in the chest.

The man, whose name was not released, was taken to University Hospitals in Iowa City in critical condition. His son, identified as 15-year-old Nathan Bennett, was arrested and charged with attempted murder. Bennett was taken to the Linn County Juvenile Detention Facility.
