The Boone River in Webster City was measured at 17.1 feet as of this morning. For the first time since 1954, there has been significant flooding along the river causing high water in nearby streets and at the city campground.

Volunteers have spent the last few days in sandbagging operations near the flooded areas of the Boone. The flood stage on the Boone is at 12 feet. With more rain being forecast today, Webster City officials are keeping a close eye on the Boone. Webster City’s water treatment plant is safe for the time being with no threat to the city’s water supply.

The flooding may be at least partly to blame in a man’s death. The body of a 50-year-old Wright County man was discovered yesterday after being missing since Sunday. Bill D. Schroder entered a farm field to check an intake due to the heavy rains.

The Wright County Sheriff’s Department along with aircraft from the Iowa State Patrol searched for Schroder. His body was recovered from the field’s intake at mid afternoon yesterday.
