Another Iowan will be part of the corps of temporary teachers in Harvard University’s Institute of Politics.  Former Iowa Congressman Jim Leach took a year-long leave of absence from his position at Princeton to serve as the interim director of the Institute of Politics at Harvard’s Kennedy School.

Des Moines Register columnist David Yepsen just wrapped up a semester-long stint at the school. Now, news that former Iowa Governor Tom Vilsack will be a "resident fellow" at Harvard in the fall semester. Vilsack will be one of six "fellows," setting up seminars for students and — in the words of Harvard news release — participating "in the intellectual life of the community."

A foreign diplomat from Pakistan plus insiders from the presidential campaigns of Mitt Romney and Howard Dean are among the other "fellows" set to join Vilsack for the fall semester. As you may recall, Vilsack served two terms as Iowa’s governor before launching a campaign for president in late 2006. Vilsack ended his presidential campaign in early 2007 and endorsed Hillary Clinton, serving as a national co-chair of Clinton’s campaign.
