Aaron Eilerts Iowa’s governor has taken steps to honor the Boy Scout from Eagle Grove who was killed in last week’s tornado. Governor Chet Culver has signed a proclamation declaring an annual "Aaron Eilerts Day of Service and Giving."

Eilerts, who was 14, was killed June 11th when a tornado tore through the Little Sioux Scout Camp in western Iowa. Three other Scouts, all from Omaha, were killed; dozens were injured.

The "Day of Service" Culver has created will be on February 24th. That was Aaron Eilerts’ birthday. The governor is encouraging community groups and civic organizations to establish service projects in Eilerts’ name.

An  Aaron Eilerts website has been established for those who wish post online comments about Eilerts.
