SE Iowa magistrate charged with drunken driving

June 27, 2008 By admin

A southeast Iowa judge was picked up for drunken driving while he was in Des Moines Thursday.

Des Moines police say Magistrate Judge Timonty Liechty of Mount Pleasant was pulled over early Thursday for driving the wrong way down a one-way downtown. After failing three field sobriety tests, police administered a breath test, showing a blood-alcohol level of .10.

Liechty was reportedly in the capitol city for a magistrates’ conference and was headed back to his hotel. He was appointed a magistrate in Henry County in 2005.
