Quad Cities gearing up for John Deere Classic

The PGA Tour returns to the Quad Cities later this week with the John Deere Classic. The opening round of the tournament is Thursday and Jonathan Byrd is the defending champion. Byrd says it was a good win, and says he couldn’t talk about it without talking about how he missed four of five cuts prior to the tournament.

Byrd says he put a lot into the tournament. Byrd says he snuck into contention last year and had a great early pairing with Iowan Zach Johnson. He says he just kept making birdies and kept hanging around, and birdied three out of the last five holes.

Byrd says he didn’t think with several holes to go that he had a chance to win, but did play some good golf.
