Cedar Rapids police trying to get more attention on murder case

July 8, 2008 By admin

Cedar Rapids police are hoping to generate new information in a murder case that got overshadowed by the June floods. On June 15th, 35-year-old Aubrey Young of Cedar Rapids was found shot to death in the 200 block of 16th Street Southeast.

Officers were initially called out on the report of shots being fired in the area. Aubrey’s body was found between two parked cars. Police say under normal circumstances the murder case would have been given additional media attention, however at the time of the death, the city of Cedar Rapids was in the beginning stages of the major flooding.

The department now wants to bring attention back to Young’s murder case. Anyone with any information on the killing is asked to call Cedar Rapids police or Crime Stoppers.
