Fort Dodge leaders are proposing an 8.2 million dollar aquatic center. The center would feature a "lazy river" including a wide-path option with several sprays, waterfalls and other opportunities to get wet.

There would a giant water slide including an open raft slide, a shallow recreation pool with a zero-depth area and a 25-yard competition lap and diving pool. The new aquatic center would replace the Expo Pool facility that has been in operation for many years.

Voters in Fort Dodge will be asked to vote on the bond issue to fund the aquatic center. The city council will set the date for the election at next Monday’s meeting. The tentative date for the bond issue would be on August 26th. If approved by the voters of Fort Dodge, the completion date of the center would be June, 2010.
