The death of an inmate at the Fort Dodge Correctional Facility is still a mystery, even after an autopsy.  Thirty-seven-year-old Christopher Oaks was found unresponsive in his cell by authorities on Tuesday morning. The on-duty physician determined there was no need to use emergency procedures.

The death of Oaks was unexpected. The State Division of Criminal Investigation was called to the scene, however, no foul play was suspected. The autopsy performed yesterday did not show evidence of trauma and a cause of death will be determined after further testing including toxicology.

Oaks was serving a 17-year sentence for first, second and third-degree theft, two counts of third-degree criminal mischief and two counts of voluntary absence and eluding from Des Moines, Johnson and Scott counties. Oaks began his sentence of September, 2001.
