Prairie City woman pulled from burning car

July 18, 2008 By admin

A passing motorist pulled a Prairie City woman from a burning car this morning on the eastside of Des Moines. The Polk County Sheriff’s department says the woman was traveling on Highway 163 when her car caught the edge of the roadway and slid into a truck.

The car caught fire on impact as the fuel tank ruptured. A sheriff’s deputy administered C.P.R. to the woman and she was airlifted to a Des Moines hospital. The woman, who has not been identified, suffered serious injuries.

The driver of the truck, 68-year-old Giles Konrad of Lacona was not injured. The truck was carrying 300 gallons of insecticide in containers, but none of the insecticide spilled out.
