Travel to the Twin Cities could get tough in September

July 23, 2008 By admin

Iowans with travel plans that involve flying should be ready for packed planes if their connections take them through the Twin Cities. Elbow room will be at a minimum for Iowans who plan to fly Northwest Airlines. The Republican National Convention is set for early September in St. Paul.

Some 40,000 people will be flying into the Twin Cites for the event, so airline spokeswoman Tammy Lee says you may want to try to plan around the peak period. She says the peak will start around August 28th because the actual convention goes from September 1st through the 4th, with the peak wrapping up by the 7th. You’ll also want to remember to pack some extra cash for your trip.

Northwest, like many other carriers, is now charging $15 for your first checked bag, $25 for your second and $100 for your third or more.
