Severe weather hits Iowa again

July 28, 2008 By admin

At least three possible tornadoes were reported in Iowa on Sunday, with heavy rain and strong winds across much of the state. In Fort Dodge, winds of 50 to 60 miles an hour uprooted trees in residential sections of the city.

The winds also damaged the Carpet World Flooring America store in the downtown section. There were reports of falling bricks and siding pulled from the structure. Crews from Mid American Energy spent much of last night in restoring electricity to some 500 customers.

As of early today just a few homes were affected by the outages. Pea to marble sized hail was reported with the storm. There were also reports of high winds damaging portions of Boone county with the severe weather system.
