Iowa looks to Florida International after winning opener

September 2, 2008 By admin

The Iowa Hawkeyes prepare for their second non-conference game this weekend at home against Florida International after opening the season with a convincing 46-3 win over Maine. Florida International is coming off a 40-10 loss at Kansas.

Against Maine, Junior linebacker A.J. Edds had a solid game, Edds forced a safety, deflected a pass that was intercepted and also registered a sack. He says the Hawkeyes wanted to look good in the opener. While the defensive line has been talked out as being a strength, Edds says the linebacking unit has great depth.

He says that’s the good thing about having a lot of young guys, they all can play a lot of spots, which creates a lot of depth and a lot of competition.
