Iowa/Nebraska bridge could be named after Nebraska Senator

September 3, 2008 By admin

A familiar name in Midwestern and national politics is expected to soon be gracing a link between Iowa and Nebraska. The new pedestrian bridge over the Missouri River will likely be named after former Nebraska Governor and U.S. Senator Bob Kerrey.

A committee formed by Omaha Mayor Mike Fahey and Council Bluffs Mayor Tom Hanafan forwarded its recommendations for a name to both city councils. If approved by both councils next week, the $22-million span would be called the Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge.
