Alcohol may be involved in teen’s fall at Iowa State

September 8, 2008 By admin

Police in Ames believe alcohol may be involved in a teenager’s fall from a third-story window early Sunday. The incident was reported at the Farmhouse fraternity near the Iowa State University campus at 4 a.m. Ames Police Commander Jim Robinson says 18-year-old Kaleb Stebens had been drinking Saturday night.

"Through the interviews we’ve conducted, it has been indicated that he’d consumed alcohol prior to this incident, but to what extent we don’t know at this point," Robinson said. Stebens, who is from Davenport, was reported in serious condition on Sunday at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines. His condition is not being released today, although his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Robinson says Stebens was in bed prior to the fall. "It’s my understanding that there was another individual who heard him get out of his bunk and then heard a noise," Robinson said. "It was at that time that it was noticed that he had fallen out of the window." Stebens is a freshman at ISU.
