An eastern Iowa man says he’ll continue to decorate his lawn in red, white and blue – despite repeated visits from thieves. Every summer, Les Seeley places 26 American flags in his front yard.

The Marion resident says neighbors and passers-by seem to like it. "A lot of people will honk their horns or wave and we just had one guy drive by and give the thumbs up," Seeley said. But this Memorial Day, every flag went missing.

Seeley, a former Army Specialist, replaced the Old Glories on Labor Day. He wasn’t too happy when thieves struck again. "There were a few cuss words that came out of my mouth," Seeley admits.

Marion police have found 49 of the 52 flags Seeley’s lost, but no one’s been arrested. Seeley suspects some local teenagers and says he’ll continue to place the flags in his yard. "My wife has even asked me not to put ’em out and I said it ain’t gonna stop me in the least bit…it’s the way I’ve always been and the way I always will be," Seeley said.
