One win won’t make a season but when it’s your first victory in more than two years it certainly carries added meaning. That’s the case at Iowa Wesleyan where the Tigers snapped a 20-game losing streak with a 41-0 romp past Waldorf.

Coach Jason Smelser says the biggest thing is for them to play well as a team. It was the Tigers first victory since the 2006 season opener. He says at one point in the game he knew they were in control and unless something really bad happened they were going to win. Smelser says it’s emotional to see the players work so hard and finally find some success.

Quarterback Bryan Abihider threw for 286 yards and five touchdowns in the game enroute to earning league player of the week honors. Iowa Wesleyan will get another chance to show how far they have come this weekend when they visit a Wisconsin-Stevens Point team that beat them 54-13 a year ago.
