The three state-supported universities saw increases in enrollment in the fall semester. Iowa State University in Ames saw the biggest increase in enrollment, up nearly 2.7% to 26,856 students. The University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls was right behind with a 2.4% increase — for a total of 12,908 students.

The University of Iowa saw just a half a percent increase in enrollment to 30,561 students. The U-I though did see its third largest freshman class with 4,246 new students. Iowa State saw its second-largest freshman class in history at 4,546 students.
