University of Dubuque student injured in plane crash dies

September 10, 2008 By admin

A University of Dubuque student injured in a plane crash last week has died. Grant Vogt of Dubuque died Tuesday at the University of Wisconsin Hospitals. Vogt had been flying a University of Dubuque airplane with fellow student Cory Alsip of Glendale Heights, Illinois, when the plane crashed landed and caught fire at the Cassville, Wisconsin airport.

Vogt and Alsip, both juniors at the school, got out of the plane but were severely burned. Alsip remains hospitalized in critical condition. A University spokesman says they aren’t sure yet what caused the crash. University of Dubuque president Jeffrey Bullock released a statement saying it’s university tradition to reach out to each other in joy and sorrow and asked the university community to do so to help friends of Vogt and his parents Larry and Julie Vogt as they deal with the loss.

The details of a memorial service for Vogt are still pending.
