Two die in Buchanan County accident

September 19, 2008 By admin

A second person has died after a car-semi crash in Buchanan County Thursday. The Iowa State Patrol says 59-year-old James Doty of Oelwein was traveling north on Highway 150 near Hazelton when he pulled out to pass another vehicle.

Doty’s car ran into a southbound semi driven by a Missouri man. Doty died at the scene of the accident. A passenger in his Doty’s car, nine-year-old Benjamin Houston of Oelwein was taken to the hospital in Oelwein, where he has since died from his injuries. The driver of the semi suffered minor injuries.
