Iowan dies in Afghanistan

An Iowa native has died in Afghanistan. Thirty-two-year-old Nathan Cox died in a roadside bombing in Afghanistan. Cox, who grew up in Davenport, was a staff sergeant in the Army. Cox was sent to Afghanistan in July.

In the mid-1990s, Cox served three years in the Balkans, but left the military. But when Cox was 29 years old, he re-enlisted in the Army. Cox was married and had a five-year-old daughter who live at his military base in Texas. His parents live in Walcott.
