Eastern Iowa law officers were kept busy this weekend with two deadly accidents and a train derailment. In Clayton County, an Arlington man died in a traffic accident south of Strawberry point.

Twenty-three-year-old Richard Deshaw was reportedly driving at a high rate of speed when he drove off the road, and the care flipped, ejecting him and his passenger. Deshaw was pronounced dead at the scene, while his passenger is being treated in Iowa City.

And in Bremer County near Plainfield, a motorcycle driven by 41-year-old Craig Jacobs of Waverly crashed, and Jacobs was pronounced dead at the scene. No other information on the accident is available. A passenger on the motorcycle was taken to a Waterloo hospital for treatment.

The train derailment happened early Sunday morning in Allamakee County south of Harpers Ferry. Seven cars of a 113 car Iowa Chicago and Eastern Railroad train left the tracks. No one was injured. The cars involved were hauling seed oil, and plate steel. Some nearby utility poles were damaged, but there were no power outages.
