Drake opens conference play against USD

September 25, 2008 By admin

The Drake Bulldogs open the Pioneer Football League race at home this weekend against the University of San Diego. The Bulldogs are 2-1 and were idle this past week.

Drake coach Chris Creighton says byes can be tough as they can be timely if you need to get healthy, or they can kill momentum. He says this off week came at a good time as they are not where they need to be at this point with new schemes and new people on the field.

San Diego is 3-0 and will be in search of a third straight PFL title this season. He says they signed five guys to the NFL from last year and still have a lot of talent back. Creighton says San Diego has great speed at all positions from what he’s seen in their first two games.
