Union workers at Dension plant ratify new contract

September 26, 2008 By admin

Union workers at a Denison meatpacking plant who rejected a contract proposal Sunday from Farmland Foods have approved a new contract.

The United Food and Commercial Workers Local 440 and Farmland Foods have announce a new four-year contract which covers the 1,400 workers at the Denison pork-processing facility. The contract includes a wage increase and outlines new "operating efficiencies" for the plant.

The new contract was approved by 88 percent of the union’s members yesterday.
