Sioux Center man dies in farm accident

September 29, 2008 By admin

A Sioux Center man died in a farm accident this weekend. The Sioux County Sheriff’s Department identified the victim as 81-year-old Howard Kiel of Sioux Center. Authorities says Kiel had been spreading manure in a farm field five miles southwest of Orange City.

The investigation determined that he had apparently been working on the rear of the spreader when he became entangled in it. A passerby saw Kiel from the roadway and call 9-1-1. Kiel was pronounced dead at the scene by the Sioux County medical examiner. The accident was reported around 3:30 Saturday afternoon.
