Two-year old dies after being hit by car in Storm Lake

September 29, 2008 By admin

A two-year-old northwest Iowa boy is dead after being hit by a car in a driveway. Police arrived on the scene Sunday afternoon to find Gabriel Beitez-Tello of Storm Lake suffering from serious injuries.

The boy was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later. Authorities say 18-year-old Jordan Erie of Storm Lake was backing out of the driveway when he hit the boy. Erie said he did not see the child. He stopped once he noticed he had hit something and notified the neighbors who helped lift the car off of the boy.

A balloon was found where the child was hit and it is believed he may have been chasing the balloon and moved into the path of the vehicle.
