Iowa hopes to spoil Michigan State’s homecoming

October 1, 2008 By admin

Michigan State will try to make it a happy homecoming on Saturday when the Spartans host the Iowa Hawkeyes. After opening the season with a loss at California the Spartans have won four straight, including a 42-29 win at Indiana last week in their Big Ten opener.

Michigan State coach Mark Dantonio says it should be a sellout crowd and very exciting. He says Iowa’s physical style will make it a tough football game. The Spartans have been riding running back Javon Ringer who already had nearly 900 yards of rushing and is averaging just over 37 carries per game.

Dantonio says Ringer is "extremely well conditioned" and has a mindset that he will always go hard, whether it’s spring football or the game. Dantonio says Ringer has what it takes to carry such a heavy load, with a great attention for detail and a great ability to sustain his mental toughness. Iowa beat the Spartans in double overtime a year ago in Iowa City.
