Man wanted in credit union robbery, crashes, dies

October 1, 2008 By admin

Police in Des Moines say a man who robbed a credit union this morning died a short time later in a car crash. Two employees of EdCo Community Credit Union, at 609 38th Street in Des Moines, reported that they were robbed at gunpoint as they entered their workplace at 7 a.m.

The gunman then stole a car belonging to one of the employees. Authorities spotted the vehicle and gave chase. The car was heading westbound on Highway F-90 when it left the road west of Booneville and slammed into a raised driveway. The suspect, who has not been identified, was killed in the crash. No one was injured in the robbery.
