A Davenport woman is in jail for the death of her husband. Davenport police were called just before 9:30 last night to a home on the city’s east side on the report of a domestic disturbance. Officers responded to the residence at 312 East 12th Street and found 49-year-old Vernon Lumpkin had been stabbed.

He was pronounced dead at Genesis Medical Center. Lumpkin’s wife, 47-year-old Caroline Lumpkin, was taken into custody and charged with first-degree murder. Details of what led to the stabbing have not been released.
