Inmate has short escape from Fort Dodge prison

October 9, 2008 By admin

The taste of freedom for an inmate from the Fort Dodge Correctional Facility has been cut short. Twenty-five-year-old Robert D. Young was arrested at a Fort Dodge residence. Young walked away from a work detail at the correctional facility early in the afternoon.

Yesterday’s escape by Young was the first since the medium security facility opened in the spring of 1998. Fort Dodge Police, prison workers and the Webster County Sheriff’s Department conducted the search until Young was located at a nearby residence just after 5 o’clock. Young is now back at the Fort Dodge facility. He has been serving a seven year sentence for second degree theft, two counts of voluntary absence and domestic assault.
