First place in the Iowa Conference will be on the line this weekend when Buena Vista visits Loras. B-V is 3-0 in the league race after beating Wartburg at home last week while Loras is 2-0 in the league race after rolling past Cornell.

At 3-1 overall, the Duhawks have already surpassed last season’s total for wins and coach Steve Osterberger says a big reason is a defense which has already generated 12 turnovers. Osterberger has known Buena Vista head coach Jay Anderson and defensive coordinator Larry Anderson for a long time.

In fact, Osterberger spent six years as the Beavers’ head coach before taking the job at Loras. He says it’s tough to coach against close friends, but everyone wants to win the game. Osterberger says the Beavers are a fundamentally sound team.
