State officials are fining a Charles City company after a factory fire and explosion last fall. The Iowa Occupational Safety and Health Bureau issued two citations against the pharmaceutical company Cambrex Corporation in the company’s response after a fire on October 26th of last year and has fined the company over $6,000.

The agency has determined there was insufficient training of employees in the cleanup, as well as there being inadequate notification and documentation of possible hazards for visiting outside representatives. Cambrex officials say since the accident, they’ve completed training of all operations personnel in emergency and post-emergency response.
