The Model T Ford is a century old this year and to mark the occasion, a car museum in north-central Iowa is holding a special event today. Ann Hemken is spokeswoman for the Hemken Car Collection Museum in the Hamilton County community of Williams. She says it contains 65 vehicles.

The museum is hosting a car show that features Model Ts but anyone who owns a collectible car is encouraged to visit and park along the town’s Main Street from 11 A.M. until 3 P.M. Those who bring classic vehicles to show will get free admission to the museum and coupons for food. Hemken says the museum features a variety of cars from America’s automotive history.

Hemken says the museum is a lifetime collection of her husband, Daryl, who died two years ago. His first car is in the collection, a Model T Ford Roadster from 1914, which he purchased 50 years ago. She says car lovers will be thrilled with the museum’s variety of show pieces.

She says there are a lot of cars on display that aren’t produced any more, including brands like Studebaker, Packard, Hudson and Nash. The Hemken Car Collection Museum is open until the end of October and by appointment until April to tour groups. For more information, contact Hemken at (515) 689-1047 or visit the museum’s website
