After breaking through at Indiana the Iowa Hawkeyes will try to make it two in a row this weekend at home against Wisconsin. The Hawks snapped a three game losing streak by rolling past the Hoosiers 45-9.

Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz says the players and coaches have been more realistic than the people outside the program. Ferentz said last week that he wasn’t discourage, and says so far it has been turnovers that have caused them to lose games.

At one time this season the Badgers were ranked in the top ten but they have opened the Big Ten race 0-3. Ferentz says Wisconsin is very good and talented and the 0-3 conference start should not fool anyone. Ferentz cautions to not judge the Badgers on last week’s 48-7 loss to Penn State.

He says things sometimes happen in games, even with good teams, and he says Penn State is playing very well right now. Ferentz says to judge a team against Penn State is not a fair evaluator. Ferentz says the offense got a boost of confidence from Saturday’s performance by protecting the ball and getting into the red zone and finishing out drives with points.

Ferentz says they aren’t out of the woods, but have experienced some success and that’s a good reason to work even harder. The Hawkeyes are 4-3 overall.
