Two injured in Fayette County explosion

October 20, 2008 By admin

Two people were injured in a house fire in northeast Iowa Sunday. It happened in the Fayette County town of Alpha. Authorities say a man and a woman were trying to light the pilot light in the furnace or water heater when there was an explosion, which blew part of the home off it’s foundation and busted out numerous windows.

The house then caught on fire. The man apparently sustained the worst injuries, with burns to the face. Both individuals were taken to a local hospital for treatment. Their names have not been released. The exact cause of the blast is still under investigation.
