A report of a suspicious man at a Waterloo school has been cleared up as a case of mistaken identity. A girl who attends Lou Henry Elementary School was approached by a man who drove up next to her and offered the student a ride.

The girl declines and the man drove away. The incident was reported to police earlier this month as a precaution. Now police have identified the driver as an employee of Hoover Middle School, which is connected to the Lou Henry school. The Hoover employee apparently though the girl went to his school and offered her a ride as it was raining.

The man contacted police after learning authorities were investigating a report of suspicious activity in the area of the two schools. Waterloo police now say the case is closed.
