Des Moines man charged with beating baby

October 23, 2008 By admin

Police say a baby treated at a central Iowa hospital was beaten by the boyfriend of the infant’s mother.  A 22-year-old Des Moines man has told police he beat his girlfriend’s three-month-old boy because the baby wouldn’t stop crying.

Edward Roberson was babysitting while the mother was out with friends this past weekend. He’s been charged with two felony counts of child endangerment. Police say he admitted hitting the baby in the stomach and in the face.

Roberson also said he was holding the baby and fell down some stairs. The baby suffered broken bones and liver damage.
