Upper Iowa fires football coach

October 23, 2008 By admin

Mike Knoll is out as head football coach at Upper Iowa after the team got off to a 1-7 start this season. The University’s president made the announcement and appointed Dave Barkley as the schools interim head coach for the final three games this season.

The Peacocks were 10-31 under Knoll as they made the transition from Division three to NCAA Division two over the last three seasons. Barkley came to Upper Iowa from Starmont in 2005 where he was a successful high school coach for 33 years.
